Pentecost Stained Glass Suncatcher Craft and Holy Spirit Cupcakes

This is a fairly quick and easy Pentecost craft that actually looks pretty nice once finished. First, cut out the inside of two frames (we used cardstock). Next, lay a piece of wax paper on the table and trace the inside of the frame onto the paper with a crayon. Cover the inside of the tracing with clear glue. Let the children cover the glue with torn bits of colorful tissue paper to make a stained glass look. When the entire area is covered place a second piece of wax paper on top of the tissue paper side. Lightly iron both sides of the wax paper to seal the tissue paper in and brighten the colors showing through. Cut the wax paper to fit the frames.  Glue or tape one of the frames to each side, being careful to line them up. Cut out two of the dove or flame shapes, whichever you choose. Glue one on each side. Make sure to line them up. Now, punch a couple of holes in the top of the page, run a ribbon through them and hang in a sunny window. You now have a Pentecost stained glass suncatcher craft.

We also celebrate with Pentecost cupcakes. We bake the cupcakes, funfetti flavor in our case. To make an interesting frosting just mix a box of cherry falvored jello mix with a can of white frosting and add some red food coloring for an extra bright red color. Red is the color associated with the Holy Spirit. Top with red and orange sprinkles or make tongues of flame by cutting and shaping fruit roll ups and gently place them on top of the cupcakes. My children enjoyed these crafts and now we have the stained glass windows to admire for weeks to come. Welcome to my blog. It is definitely a work in progress. I have created this blog with the intention of using it to help others with ideas on ways to share the faith with your children. While I am no expert on the matter, I am a mom who is trying desperately to do just that. I believe that a firm foundation in God is what is needed to raise happy, productive and Godly children with good moral values. Our world has become a mess with children learning way too much about the immorality of our society at a very young age. I strive to shelter my children from these things while fostering a strong relationship with God and family. I am Catholic and a lot of what I post will reflect this, there will be a lot of general Bible based information as well. I hope that I will be able to include ideas that everyone will find useful. Pro Life?

Just a thought. If a person is truly Pro Life shouldn't they be totally thrilled to see a large family? You would think that being pro life would mean that you accept and value ALL life, not just the lives that you think make sense. Just because you choose not to have a large family or think you can't handle it, does that make it wrong for others to do so? I am constantly amazed at the number of people that I know who claim to be pro life, but seem very irritated or displeased by the fact that we have so many children. Seriously...do my children keep anyone else from going on with life in the exact same way they were before they knew us? We may have a small home with shared bedrooms, we may not have a lot of extra luxury items, and we may only have one vehicle, but that is our choice. We choose these precious lives over all the other so called comforts, conveniences and luxuries there are. We are the ones raising, feeding, nurturing, doctoring, loving and catechising them. Why should that bother anyone else? Why? Am I missing something? Just curious.
